After having our Quran classes, the  boys went outside for a long game of soccer.  It felt really good playing with each other again after so long.  Congrats to Sobhan for scoring the most goals.

Taking a break from our soccer game, we came inside to discuss the upcoming program for Imam Mahdi’s birthday.  The following responsibilities were handed out:

Poster designs:

Football AND Three legged race – Ali Akbar

Soccer – Mohammad Amin AND Milaad

Bowling – Amirhossein Nouraei

We look forward to seeing what you all have to offer next week.  In addition, do not forget your major assignment: you letter to Imam Mahdi.  Here are some sources:

We ended our day by reciting a few pages from monajate Shabaneyeh.

Lastly, we bid farewell to our dear brother Abdolhamid Dalili who is leaving for Iran in a month.  We ask that he pray for us at all of the shrines he is given the opportunity to visit ;-) .  As he said before he left:

بر مشامم می رسد هر لحظه بوی کربلا
بر  دلم  ترسم  بماند  آرزوی کربلا

Brother’s Quran Class Recap 7/25/2009

by Eslami on Jul.27, 2009, under Brother's Weekly Recap

The intermediate Quran class for the brothers continued their reading of Surah Nuh.  We have begun talking about the proofs that Prophet Nuh brought for his people so that they would believe, yet all of his efforts were falling on deaf ears.  Thus far we mentioned three proofs, can you name them in the comments section?

Please be ready for ayahs 15-17 for next week.

So sister Naemeh said if they improve they will have a nice surprise. But they have to be well prepared for next week. Well thats all for this week then. Thanks for reading. wassalam.

Sisters General Recap 7/25/2009

by hmaslehat on Jul.27, 2009, under General Recap (S), Sister's Weekly Recap

First and foremost congratulations on the Birth of Imam Hussein and his brother Hazrate Abbas (AS) and his son, Imam Sajjad (AS)  to all the lovers of Ahlul beyt(S.A)

There are narrations that claim Hazrate Zahra(S.A) had seen Karbala in a dream. So she cried and went to the holy Prophet(PBH). The Prophet Muhammed(PBUH) told her not to cry, “there will be a time that throughout history Hussein’s name will be remembered for many generations and generations to come”. Also, there is another famous saying of the prophet which says that: “Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein” showing how honorable Imam Hussein is, that the blood that imam Hussein, Hazrate Abbas and all other companions shed in Karbala was the reason that kept Islam alive till today.

So peace be upon Imam Hussein and all his companions the day they were born, they day they were martyred and the day they will all be resurrected.

kerbala

So our classes started outside, with a water ballon fight… we used water balloons, water bottles, and any other container filed with water for this fight… What a fight!!!

After having fun outside, we started our Quran classes (look under Quran class recap for more details). The advanced people also read and talked about the meaning of Sura Al-Insan ( Al-dahr).. Allah (S.WT) begins this chapter with the creation of human being… reminding us of His mercy, giving us this beautiful existence when we were nothing….. The Quran moves on by mentioning how Allah created us and how He gifted us with hearing and vision. And after giving the tools “hearing and sight”, he showed all human beings the right path “verily, We have shown him the way, whether he is grateful or ungrateful 76:3)”. As the Quran says some of us will be grateful and some ungrateful; shows that we have the ability to make our own decisions. Then the Quran talks about the circumstances of those who follow this right path and those who reject it. Allah also mentions the signs of the believers who do good deeds only to please Him “we only feed you(the orphans and poor) for the sake of Allah… (76:9)” and also how Allah rewards people for their patience…as we mentioned Hazrate Zynab as one the best examples of a person who had the most patience in life, as she proved it after the tragedy of Karbala.

quran1

After Quran, sister Hoda continued her discussion on respecting parents. Last week we talked about some problems we all have with our parents, this week we were looking for a solution to how to overcome those problems. Sis Hoda, mentioned that the problems we have with our parents it’s a trial and a test from Allah, to see how patient we are with them. She said this is why there is so much emphasize in the Quran about respecting parents, because Allah knows it’s hard …and that’s exactly why Allah wants us to be patient and respectful with our parents as our parents are with us. We discussed that there were many occasions that our parents tolerated our misbehaviors, but the difference is that our parents our more patient with us than us being with them. Sis Hoda also brought the story of a man complaining to the prophet that how his son mistreats him. And the holy prophet asked that man how did you treat your father when you were young? The man replied that I also mistreated him, but not to the extent that my son is mistreating me. The reply was if you mistreat your parents when you’re young, your children will do the worse to you.

So we got to the point that there are many times parents ask us to do stuff and eventually we will do it for them but at the same time we show attitude. So the suggestion was that next time let’s try not to show that attitude while we’re doing something for them. The final question asked for this discussion was that now why it is good to treat our parents with respect. Parinaz replied “for them to pray for us”, and that was the best answer… parents prayer has so much value in it in the sights of Allah, so as conclusion patience is the key for all the problems including respecting parents.

Weekly Recap 7/18/2009

by hmaslehat on Jul.22, 2009, under General Recap (S), Sister's Weekly Recap

“There is nothing seen by your eye but it has a lesson in it.” Sayings of Imam Musa Al Kazim (A.S)

Finally after couple weeks, Mohebban got back to class. We played soccer in the soccer field, or in better words we played something that looked like soccer; but it was not soccer…. However, we had this new soccer ball and we were so excited about it….girls-rule-sunflower

After our “soccer game” we went to the Masjid, and we started our Quran class (look under Quran recap for more details).

Then sister Hoda start talking about Imam Musa Al-kazim’s martyrdom and the Birth of prophet Muhammed (PBH). So, she asked the girls some questions about Imam Musa’s biography such as who was his father, who was his son, how was he martyred etc. Nice Job to Mahsa and Melika, they were giving up most of the answers… so we continued on this topic as we said that Imam Kazim the son of Imam Al-sadegh(A.S) was born in medina and he was well known for his patience. Imam Musa Al-kadhim (AS) was imprisoned in the time of Bani-Abbas for 14 years, he was then martyred and his holy body was buried in Kazemain a city in Iraq. Imam Kazim has a lot of beautiful sayings as in one of his Hadith he says that “ An hour reflection is better than hundred rakats of prayer”. Meaning that if you pray without knowing your God; knowing who you’re prostrating to, and why you’re prostrating, that prayer has no value. Instead if we spend an hour increasing our knowledge about Allah and thinking about him, it has more value in it and that moment of reflection can make us closer to Allah than a prayer that although its long, but has no intention and wisdom in it.

After our talk about the Ahlul-beyet, Sis. Hoda opened a new discussion about respecting parents. Since Islam emphasizes so much on respecting and appreciating parents and we see throughput the Quran that Allah (S.W.T) mentions a lot about honoring parents. As He says “We have advised the human being be kind to your parents. ..(29:8)” . Everyone mentioned a time where she had mistreated her parents. However, we didn’t get to complete our discussion that day; we decided to elaborate more on this topic next week and try to find a solution to improve our behaviors toward our parents.

On the Martyrdom of Imam Kazem (AS)

by hmaslehat on Jul.22, 2009, under Hadith, Islamic View

Some saying of Imam Musa Al Kazim (A.S):

“He is not from us one who gives up his material world for his religion or his religion for the life of this world.”

“Never bother to learn something not knowing which does not do you any harm, and never neglect to learn something whose negligence will increase your ignorance.”

” The most high-ranking people are those who disregard the worldly pleasures completely.”

“Plants grow in plain, not rocky, lands. In the same way, wisdom will grow in the hearts of the modest, not the arrogant, because Allah has made modesty the instrument of the mind and made arrogance the instrument of ignorance.”

Lecture Summary 7/13/2009

by zar on Jul.13, 2009, under Lecture Summaries

In The Name of Allah

———————————————————————————————

Did you know that Allah is making fun of the monafighs continually!?

See full size image

T/F – When someone violates their right you are allowed to do something worse to them.  —  False!    The best thing you can do is forgive and forget. But if you have to do something, then you can only do the exact same thing to them.

———————————————————————————————

If monafighs make fun of moemeneen twice but Allah does it continually, then is there really justice between monafighs and Allah? According to Islam shouldn’t Allah only do it twice as well?!

IS ALLAH A JUST LORD?

…Well first lets define justice. Justice is to give each person what they individually deserve.   -   Now do you see?

————————————————————-——————————–

If you are a monafigh for 100 years, and sin that much, then repent, according to Islam you should be punished in hell for100 years.

The thing is…  Allah might keep you in hell forever!!!

See full size image

imagine living in that, forever!!!

———————————————————————————————

On the day of judgment if you deserve a punishment, it will be determined by the effect of the sins you do!!!

———————————————————————————————

Did you know that some sins you do can impact an entire country!!!

———————————————————————————————

On the day of judgement, the moenemeen will be sitting and laughing at the monafighs burning in hell!!!  Better yet, that will be their much needed REVENGE!!!

———————————————————————————————

Every decision you have to make, hard or easy, is a test. Yet life itself is a test!

———————————————————————————————

When the monafighs made fun of the moemeneen they were making themselves blind.

A Hadith by the prophet

by Ali on Jul.10, 2009, under Hadith

The Prophet has said:

The wisest person is one who gives whatever they thinks is good to others and not give what they think is bad.

This Hadith by the Prophet is telling us to look after others and want the best for them. If you help others out, then they will help you out.  In the play that was performed by our group for the occasion of Fatimyeh (see the recap for The Forgotten Affliction), when Hazrate Zahra went to give her wedding dress to the poor person, she remembered the ayah from the Quran that commanded her to give her best of things to the poor, not things that she did not want.  The ayahs was located in Surah Ale Emran, Ayah 92:

You can never extend virtue and righteousness unless you spend part of what you dearly love for the cause of Allah (SWT).  Allah knows very well whatever you spend for his cause.

It is very easy to give up what you do not want, but a true mujahid of Allah (SWT) gives up ALL that he has for His sake.  We hope that we will be able to develop this quality within ourselves.

Preparing for Return Part 2

by mah on Jul.10, 2009, under Islamic Stories

A Story from Tamashaye Aftab

By Mohammadamin

On Friday night, the house of the Shaik was ready for the guests. No one but himself knew who was invited to this weird gathering. Shaik Ali and Abdolkarim had sat down and were moving the names around. These people who were now entering the house one by one were picked from the thousands of shiyyes in the town of Helle so they can prove their loyalty. Shaik Ali was strolling behind the door of the yard. Whenever anyone knocked he would run towards the door. And he would open it himself. But there was no sign of him. Nervousness and waiting was making him miserable. He looked inside the rooms. Now, everyone had came and it was his turn to come.

The moments dragged by. He sat along the curb against his yard. He thought to himself, “Did I make a mistake? Was the plan scheduled for another night?”

He felt that the yard was brightening. He thought someone had a lantern in their hand and had came to the yard. But this was not a lantern. He brought his head up above his head at the top of the roof, a very bright light was spreading around.

It was like the moon itself had landed on the roof itself. At first he was horrified, but really soon he smiled. It was clear that Molla had came. Several moments later a voice filled the house, The same heartwarming sound.28imammahdi

“Abdolkarim the butcher, come up”

Abdolkarim came out of the room. He clumsily found his shoes among the pile of shoes outside and he went up the stairs. Shaik Ali was standing beside the stairs (Downstairs not at the roof) and he wished he could be in the butcher’s place. Some time passed quietly and slowly. Then suddenly the sound of water coming down the gutter! Blood!?

Now everyone was looking at the yard from the room’s window. The yard that was now coated with blood. Shaik Ali was seeing that some people were pale and others shivering.

Once more the voice filled the house.

“Shaik Ali, come up”

Shaik Ali went up two steps at a time and got himself to the roof. Now he really wanted to see the Imam. When he reached the roof, he saw the butcher who was standing next to the Imam and who had killed one of his sheeps. Now he understood that the blood from the gutter was the sacrificed sheep’s blood. He got himself to the Imam. He wanted to throw himself at his feet and kiss him. The Imam looked at Abdolkarim and said, “Now the second sheep!”

Then he turned to Shaik Ali and greeted him, “How are you Shaik Ali? Do you remember what I told you the other day? I have come tonight to show you that you are complaining too much to us.

“Now go call your friends. The ones that you picked with Abdolkarim. Go tell them to come up.” Shaik Ali was ashamed. He put his head down and was listening.

Shaik Ali took several steps towards the stairs, but he stopped. He was afraid that when he would return Imam would have been gone. But when he heard Imam say, “Don’t be afraid Shaik Ali I will wait here until you return.” With happiness he ran first to the yard and from there to the room. With excitement he opened the door. He wanted to yell, “The Imam has permitted….”

But he froze right at the door of the room. No one was there. The room was empty and everyone had gone. Some had even left their shoes.

He had to return to the roof. Shame had took over his whole body. But when he reached the roof he saw the same failure smile on Imam’s face, “Didn’t I tell you Shaik Ali? Did you see how they escaped? These people are scared of our return. These poeple, don’t know that when the return comes, the world will become a flower field. (As in peaceful) There would be real justice and relaxation on that day. The blood of the wrong person shall not be shed and even the sleeping would not be awoken for nothing. They don’t know about our goodness. I am in search of followers who want to rule with justice, even if it turns out bad for themselves. Not the people who will always do anything, for their own benefit. The people who want the truth even if it hurts them or does not benefit them will be my followers. So you see, Shaik Ali? Don’t complain to us anymore. These are the people of the town Helle that you were so fond of. Judge other places(towns or cities) he same….

Ya Mahdi

Ya Mahdi

Shaik Ali was quietly weeping on the rooftops. The Imam had left.
